Reiki and Surgery
Facing surgery can generate immense levels of stress and anxiety that are counterproductive to your healing process. While doctors, nurses and other medical practitioners are laser-focused on each individual task to make sure your surgery is a success, having a Certified Medical Reiki Master present as a guardian for your whole being can have a positive impact on your overall recovery. The Raven Keyes Medical Reiki International (RKMRI) program prepares Reiki Masters in surgical rooms so you can have the added value of receiving Reiki during the actual surgery, making an even greater difference in pain reduction and recovery time than receiving Reiki only before and after surgery.
As a Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM) and trained member of RKMRI, Jean qualifies to join you in the hospital before, during and after your surgery to support you each step of the way. In this role she helps reduce your stress and anxiety, strengthen your energy for the best outcome, minimize any side effects from the surgery and support your overall healing.
Jean does not diagnose conditions, prescribe or perform medical treatments or interfere with or replace the work of a licensed medical professional. Jean’s training as a CMRM includes a strict set of standards and protocols for working in the hospital and operating room in conjunction with your surgeon and medical team. These ensure that Reiki works as a form of integrative medicine to support the medical care you receive.
Over 800 hospitals offer Reiki as one of the top three complementary in-patient therapies. Among these hospitals are Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and George Washington University Hospital.
If you would like to have Jean present for you during your surgery, you must receive approval from your lead surgeon. If Reiki is a new concept to your surgeon, she can meet with them to go over how Reiki can improve the outcome of your surgery. After receiving approval, Jean will then coordinate with the surgical team to go over hospital protocol and be fully prepared.
Jean will provide Reiki for you from check-in, to surgery, and into post-operation. Rates for this service vary depending on the length of surgery involved.
